Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
Welcome to the WSU Horse Course Website!
Horse Course is an annual event put on by the Washington State University Student Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. The event is a one day short-course that provides continuing education for horse owners and the general public. Topics vary to provide an interesting experience, whether you are just getting into the arena or have been working with horses for many years.
All courses are offered by our exceptional faculty, clinicians, residents, interns, and licensed veterinary technicians at the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. These are the same educators preparing our next class of students to go out as practicing equine clinicians.
The WSU Horse Course is open to all - students, faculty, lawyers, kindergarten teachers - anyone that would like to learn more about the equine community. The Horse Course event provides our AAEP student chapter with funds necessary to arrange for lectures, labs, and hands-on-learning experiences for our students. Some examples of where this funding is used includes bringing in representatives from PLIT (a malpractice and liability insurance organization), hands-on dentistry labs where students float teeth, nutrition lectures to teach students how to manage horses with equine metabolic syndrome, and buying materials for all lectures/labs hosted at WSU.
Thank you for your interest! We look forward to seeing you in 2024!
